The Geta is hard, but the Getanha is very soft

the Getanha 【The triangle sponge cake taste brown sugar】
The Getanha is one of most popular sweets. Every time people drink green tea, they eat the Getanha as same as pickles. It shapes trapezoid just like a triangle. Its shape seem to the clog thong of Geta, so it is called the Getanha. People outside Kagoshima prefecture always think the Ha is the short wooden plate, but the Ha is the clog thongs in Kagoshima.
People outside Kagoshima prefecture sometimes ask us what sweets the Getanha is. We answer "It looks like a soft Kurobou." or "It is the wet brown sugar sponge cake." and so on. Its dough is made from brown sugar and eggs etc.. After baking, the dough soaked in brown sugar. And the Getanha is very soft and sweet.
We think for a long time that the Getanha is very famous as a traditional sweets of Kagoshima. But we have heard there is area in the Satsuma peninsula where people don't eat a lot. First of all, people always eat the Getanha in the Ohsumi peninsula where we lived in.

* The Geta is one of old Japanese wooden shoes. The body is a wooden plate. It has the clog thongs on the surface, and they are place trianglly like a mountain. And two short plates are placed under the body. So the body don't touch the ground directly. In general two short plates are called "the Ha", and the clog thongs is called "the Hanao". But the clog thongs is called "the Ha" under Kagoshima dialect. And the word "no" sometimes change "n" in Kagoshima. The Japanese word "no" means "of". So "the Geta-n-ha = the Geta no ha" expresses the clog thong of Geta.
* The Kurobou is one of Japanese sweets like a Getanha. It shapes long lozenge, and the surface is a little hard. It is mainly eaten in the Kantou district.
