This is a kind of shochu liquor cup named Sorakyu which is sometimes called the ultimate weapon as drinking because it can not be put on a table while drinking. The word “Sorakyu”is said that it comes from a situation : When people are given sake with the word "Sora", they have to drink all in one gulp with a sound "Kyu". Sora is a shout of giving in Japanese. Kyu is an onomatopoeia for drinking. The other a different origin may that the word "Sora" comes from the word "Sora-osoroshii" and "Kyu" cames from "Kyukyoku". Sora-osoroshii means "very terrible", and Kyukyoku means "ultimate". So this cup can not be put on the table while a party irrespective of the fact >_< .
