This handmade set will give a pleasure to make your own tray. The set consists of a Yakusugi cedar plate for a tray and some tools for working. : a Yakusugi cedar, 2 kinds of sandpaper, a Karukaya brush, a horse-hair brush and a clear lacquer. These photo is a sample and we always use same phots, so please watch the following next section about the real ceder plate.

This plate is about 1 centimeter thick. It's relatively wide. So if you want, you can divide into 3 pieces vertically or 4 pieces and make more than 2 trays.
How to make
（１）Please spread the old newspaper not to soil the table. Sandpaper the edge of the plate by the rough sandpaper calerefully not to hurt.
（２）Sandpaper the surface of the plate. If you find out some bad dirts, plane the plate. But to keep the natural face is best, so to process too strongly isn't good. Even the dirt is a charm as a natural plate.
（３）Next, sandpaper the surface smoothly by the fine sandpaper. Finish the edge and the surface carefully.
（４）This process is the most heavy work. Scrub the plate by the Karukaya brush strongly. Don't forget to scrub the side. Do all of the face and the side. To feel too hot by frictional heat is best. Even your arms are tired and you are wet with sweat, never give up. It is a good exercise for you. Those who on a diet, go! Go! Fight! Fight!
（５）But if you want to exercise lightly as a rehabilitation for your fingers, we recommend a huge Karukaya brush for a professional. The huge Karukaya brush don't need a strong motion, however its price is more than \15,000.
（６）When the even grain stand out sharply, the Karukaya work is up. The soft part of the tree rings sink by frictional heat and the hard part of the tree rings are left, so the grains look beautiful. Because Yakusugi ceder is proud of the fine beautiful tree rings, too work hard will give an artistic work.
（７）This is the last scrubbing work. Scrub the surface of the plate by the horse-hair brush. Because the even grain have already standed out enough by the Karukaya work, it don't need to work hard. Scrub lightly with a sense to clear the surface.
（８）Lacquer on the plate. Don't lacquer thick at once. Repeat to lacquer thin and dry, and the surface is finished nicely. We recommend the clear lacquer to enjoy the beautiful tree rings. But you can paint another color depend on your favorite.

This is a sample of the back. The back isn't ussually lacquerd under common use. But if you want so, lacquer the back for waterproofing.
＊Yakusugi ceder is a very soft tree, so it is easy to scratch. If the plate is scratched, please sandpaper and scrub again.
